Navy AA stands for ARTIFICER APPRENTICE. As an Artificer, the candidate will undergo the best technical training to hold very responsible positions as a sailor of the Indian Navy. Major responsibilities of an Artificer are Management of men, operating and maintaining some of the most complex systems, and sophisticated equipment.

An artificer works on steam-powered machinery, diesel and gas turbines, guided missiles and other automatically controlled weapons, sensors avionic equipment, computers and highly advanced radio and electrical power systems.

Candidates selected as Artificer Apprentice will undergo nine weeks’ Basic Training at INS Chilka followed by Professional training in the allotted trade at various Naval Training Establishments. Allotment of Branch/ Trade is as per the requirement of Service.

Navy AA exam is happening twice a year (in the month of September and March).

The advertisement for the same is published in employment news, national leading daily and Indian Navy website in the months of June and December respectively.


ELIGIBILITY FOR NAVY AA WRITTEN EXAMINATION


The candidate must be qualified in 10+2 examination with 60% or more in aggregate with Maths & Physics and at least one of these subjects; Chemistry/Biology/Computer science from an Educational board recognized by Central/State Government.

The age for Artificer Apprentice candidate should be between 17-20 years on the day of enrolment.


SELECTION PROCEDURE


The selection procedure of Navy AA consists of mainly three stages. The first stage consists of a computer-based written exam. Successful candidates of the first stage have to go for Physical Fitness Test. The successful candidates of PFT have to go for the third stage. In this stage, candidates are examined medically as per medical standards prescribed in current regulations applicable to the sailor’s entry.

The final merit list comes after the medical examination. The final result are displayed on the Indian Navy website. Joining instructions are sent to students based on vacancies available as per the merit list.


WRITTEN EXAMINATION


Navy AA is a Computer-based Examination. 

  • The question paper is computer-based. The total number of questions is 100, each carrying 01 marks. 
  • The question paper is bilingual (Hindi & English) and objective type (multiple-choice). 
  • The question paper has four sections- English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge. 
  • The standard of the question paper is of 10+2 and the syllabus for the examination is available on website www.joinindiannavy.gov.in
  • The duration of the examination is one hour. 
  • The candidates have to pass in all sections in aggregate. The Navy reserves the right to determine the passing marks in each Section and in aggregate.
  • Penalty for Wrong Answer – Candidates should note that there is a penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the question paper. There are four alternatives for the answer to every question. For each wrong answer, one fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.

PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST (PFT)


  • Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection. 
  • PFT consists of 1.6 Km run (Duration is 7 minutes)
  • 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak)
  • 10 Push-ups.

RESULTS OF NAVY AA EXAMINATION


Results of the Navy AA written exam is declared in 1-2 months after the written exam. The same can be viewed on https://www.joinindiannavy.gov.in. Candidates who perform better get the call letters for PET. The final merit list comes after the PET and Medical, the final result is available on the Indian Navy website. Candidates get the Joining instructions based on vacancies available as per the merit list.
