UPSC conducts the NDA exam twice a year mainly in the months of April and November. Most of the aspirants are confused about the criteria of Age limit and qualifications required to apply for the NDA & NA Examination. Knowing the age limit for NDA is very important for the aspirants before applying for NDA & NA examination or start preparing for it. Most of the candidates are confused between the maximum age limit mentioned in the UPSC notification and at the time of joining and the lower and upper age limit. In this article, we will clearly explain the age limits and qualifications required for the NDA examination and how many attempts a candidate can avail for it.
Age Limit & Qualifications Criteria:
Well the official age limit for joining NDA is 16½ to 19½. But let me clear this fact that this is incomplete information you people are having. Most of the people would be thinking that they can appear for NDA till they are 19½ years old, but this is a myth. Now the thing is that you can appear for the exam till 18½ years because the age limitation is for the day you join NDA or we can say at the day you step in NDA you should be less than 19½. After the written exam, you have to go through SSB interview, and finally if you can make up to that and you get recommended you are required to join NDA before you turn 19½ years. After the exam notification whole procedure of exam, SSB, and allotment of joining date are of about 1 year.
Also, many students think that they can apply for NDA after passing class 12th or Senior Secondary Examination, but it is very important to know that a student after 11th class can apply for NDA exam, as we have mentioned in the above paragraph that the whole process takes about a year. If you apply for NDA with class 12th and get finally recommended you may join the National Defence Academy just after 12th class.
- A student whose age is between 15.5 to 18.5 years and 11th pass can apply for NDA & NA Examination.
- Minimum and Maximum age required at the time of joining the National Defence Academy should be between 16.5 years to 19.5 years.
- At the time of joining NDA, the candidate should be 12th pass.
- The maximum number of attempts a student can avail for NDA depends on his date of birth.
